Luke 10:38-42            Priorities

“Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house.  And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching.  But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.”  But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” ESV

Yes, we should serve.

BUT, you should know the One you serve so you serve rightly

DO NOT serve your way away from a relationship with Jesus!

When Jesus is in the house you should not be full of worry or troubled!

One thing is necessary!

Getting as CLOSE TO JESUS as you can

There is One who can help.

   We try so many things

We spend so much time and money with no lasting results

There is One who will always be there.

One who will never leave you or forsake you

On that nothing can separate you from

Not time or space/physical life or death/strength or anything else in all of existence

Jesus.

Sometimes the best answer is this:  “Don’t just DO something, SIT THERE!”
