What’s Keeping YOU from Jesus – Luke 8:4 – 15 – 11-22-15

 What are you thankful for?

I read a question the other day that may cause you to pause:  What if you had to survive today on what you were thankful for yesterday?

What keeps us from being truly thankful for everything?

What keeps us from a deepening relationship with God?

What is Keeping You From Jesus?

  1. Satan, our eternal enemy?
    1. Hear The Word
    2. Satan steals away any faith
    3. Steal, Kill and Destroy Faith, Hope and LOVE
    4. What is trampling your ability to believe?
    5. What is stealing your heart for God?
  2. Struggles?   Times of difficulty or pressure?
    1. May believe for a little while/in the MOMENT
    2. No LASTING Faith
    3. Seeds must be planted and watered
    4. They need LIVING WATER
    5. Don’t become spiritually dehydrated
  3. Self, our second oldest enemy?
    1. Cares
      1. What is most important to ME?
    2. Riches
      1. What is most valuable to ME?
    3. Pleasures of LIFE in this WORLD
      1. What FILLS my BELLY?
    4. What gives me the MOST PLEASURE?
      1. TEMPORARY
    5. NEVER MATURE
      1. Christians are not to be “TOYS or US” Kids
      2. We need to grow up!
    6. There may be a bunch of “STICKING POINTS” the world pushed out to keep you from God
      1. Grow in God anyway
      2. FOLLOW God anyway
      3. PLEASE do not allow the love for the things of this world keep you from the BETTER LIFE with God!

What is Keeping YOU from Jesus?  REMOVE THESE ISSUES!

These Issues KEEP YOU FROM BEING ThankFULL!

God is greater than all of these issues.  Open your heart and hear His Word, believe His Word and Live His Word.

This Text is not about our enemy, or birds, thorns or stones; or even fertile soil.

This text is about YOU!  It is about your heart and DECISIONS

  •  If you are going to be dirt, be GOOD DIRT!
  • Be the Good soil.
  • Be the RECEPTIVE Soil
    • TAKE IN THE SEED OF THE WORD OF GOD
  • Take the Seed God has planted in you and GROW in GRACE
  • Have EYES TO SEE and EARS THAT HEAR
  • THEN, Have Feet That GO and ARMS that reach out
  • Have BROWS THAT SWEAT
  • Have mouths that SHARE THE GOSPEL
    • SHED tears for the Lost
  • Be PATIENT
  • Be FRUITFULL
  • Allow the WORD OF GOD to grow in you and out of you!

What is Keeping You From Jesus?

Today is the day to plow open the hardness of the HUMAN heart, let in LIVING WATER to nourish that old barren ground and yield your life to God in THANKSGIVING!

Fertile soil go grow, mature and worship God.

That is a life worth the effort and sacrifice of a sea journey, harsh winters and unknown enemies

 Be that same fertile soil

Ministry Together                  Luke 8:1 – 3                11-8-2015

Luke 8: 1 – 3 Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him,and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s household manager, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means.

  1. Jesus went through His Community and Area sharing the Gospel – The GOOD NEWS OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD
    1. So Should we
    2. There are BILLIONS of people worldwide who need to hear the Gospel
    3. There are MILLIONS of people in TEXAS than need to hear the Gospel
    4. There are THOUSANDS of people right here in STARR COUNTY that need to hear the Gospel.
  2. True Disciples go where Jesus goes and does what Jesus does.
    1. Disciple: one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another; or one of the twelve in the inner circle of Christ’s followers according to the Gospel accounts; or  a convinced adherent of a school or individual
  3. You do not need to be “THE TWELVE” to follow Jesus
    1. The women listed here received great freedom from Jesus Christ
    2. They had been healed
      1. Physically and spiritually
    3. They had received FREEDOM
    4. Freedom to Follow
    5. As did the ones referred to as “Many Others”
      1. You and I may not be one of “THE TWELVE”
      2. We are one of the “MANY OTHERS” Who are following Jesus Christ
    6. Those who followed – PROVIDED FOR THEM OUT OF THEIR MEANS
      1. They gave “out of their means” to support the ministry
      2. The same system God set up as “Tithes and Offerings”
        1. They were part of a “COOPERATIVE PROGRAM” of funding ministry.
        2. Today we must REMEMBER that we DO NOT give TO a COOPERATIVE PROGRAM! WE give THROUGH the COOPERATIVE PROGRAM
  • Some give a little, some give much, all give some and TOGETHER the work of the MINISTRY is funded…..TOGETHER
  1. Just like our Southern Baptist Life today and our “COOPERATIVE PROGRAM” for funding the work in our CHURCH, our STATE, our CONTINENT and all around OUR WORLD.
  2. They partnered with a similar faith
    1. The Gospel of Jesus Christ
      1. Following Jesus Christ
      2. Confessional Fellowship
    2. Kingdom Focus
      1. Going where Jesus went
      2. Doing what Jesus did
      3. Faith and Obedience
      4. Love displayed by actions
  • Cooperative Giving
    1. Each giving as God and His Word led them to give
    2. TOGETHER they were able to see the GOSPEL shared all over their region.
